Vietnamese star anise (Illicium verum) from Lang Son and Cao Bang — trans-anethole ≥85% in essential oil, dry-basis essential oil 8.0–9.0%. Three application sectors: food (pho seasoning, 5-spice powder), pharmaceutical (shikimic acid — precursor to oseltamivir/Tamiflu) and cosmetic fragrance. Vietnam #2 in global star-anise exports, 14,004 MT at USD 63.7 M in 2024.
